This Morning is undergoing a change with the departure of Phillip Schofield, and a new male host is set to join the show. Schofield announced in May 2023 that he would be “stepping down” from the series following reports of a falling out with his co-host, Willoughby. He later admitted to lying about an affair with a younger male colleague on the show and subsequently parted ways with ITV. Willoughby took a temporary break from the show before returning with rotating presenters Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle. Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, who initially filled in for Schofield, continue to present the Friday episodes. ITV recently confirmed that there will be no permanent replacement for Schofield.
ITV has announced that presenter Steve Jones will host an episode of This Morning on Wednesday, August 16, alongside former Big Brother winner Josie Gibson. If the episode receives positive feedback, it is likely that Jones will make more appearances on the show. Jones gained fame in the early 2000s as one of the presenters of T4 and later became the host of the US version of The X Factor in 2011. He also had a small role in Gurinder Chadha’s 2008 film Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging.
Earlier in his career, Jones dated One Show host Alex Jones, but their relationship ended after a public confrontation on Channel 4 involving Angelina Jolie. He is currently married to model Phylicia Jackson since 2014.
