Bella Hadid, the 26-year-old supermodel, recently shared a heartfelt post on Instagram reflecting on her journey with Lyme disease. Hadid, who has been living with the disease since 2012, revealed that she is now “finally healthy” after more than a decade of struggling with her health. In her Instagram post, she included several photographs of herself undergoing treatments, receiving drips and injections, and lying in hospital beds.

Hadid expressed pride in herself for not giving up despite the difficulties she faced. Living with Lyme disease, which progressively worsened over time, while trying to make herself, her family, and her supporters proud took a toll on her emotional well-being. Hadid acknowledged that it was confusing to feel sad and sick despite having blessings, privileges, opportunities, and love surrounding her.

Despite her struggles, Hadid reassured her fans that she is okay and there is no need to worry. She also stated that she wouldn’t change anything about her journey because it made her who she is today. As one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world, she promised her fans who are also facing challenges that things will get better. Hadid encouraged them to take a step back, stay strong, have faith in their path, and walk their truth, promising that the clouds will eventually clear.

Hadid described her battle with Lyme disease and chronic illness as an enlightening experience filled with new friends, new visions, and a new perspective. She expressed gratitude to her mother, Yolanda Hadid, who was also diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012, for supporting her throughout her journey. She thanked the brands and companies she has worked with, her agents for protecting her, and her medical team.

In concluding her post, Hadid assured her fans that she will return when she is ready and expressed how much she misses and loves them all. Lyme disease, a bacterial infection transmitted through infected ticks, can cause symptoms such as fever, headache, fatigue, skin rash, and more. Earlier this year, Hadid shared some of the symptoms she experiences during flare-ups, including changes in skin color, random breakouts, fatigue, anxiety, lack of motivation, leaky gut, and depression.

Despite the challenges and impact on her appearance, Hadid remains determined and dedicated to her profession. She acknowledged the difficulties of looking and feeling sick while working as a model but expressed that she will continue to try for her fans. Overall, Hadid’s post serves as a testament to her resilience and serves as a source of inspiration for those facing similar struggles with chronic illness.
