Katharine McPhee has made a public announcement regarding a devastating family tragedy that she and her husband, David Foster, have experienced. The 39-year-old singer took to Instagram on August 11 to inform her followers that she will be unable to continue performing as a guest on her husband’s tour in Asia due to this family emergency. While McPhee did not provide specific details about the tragedy, she expressed the need to return home to be with her loved ones. She expressed her regret to her fans in Jakarta and expressed her desire to perform for them in the future.
Following McPhee’s announcement, numerous friends and supporters of the couple sent messages of love and support in the comments section of her post. Nicole Scherzinger, a judge on The Masked Singer, wrote, “Sending my love and prayers for your family,” while Linda Thompson added, “Sending you and David love and hoping that everything is okay.” Amanda Kloots also sent her well wishes, writing, “Sending you loads of love. I’m thinking of you guys.”
Despite the tragedy, David Foster, 73, is still scheduled to perform at the Sentul International Convention Centre in Jakarta on August 11 and 12 before taking a hiatus from his tour. He is set to return to the stage in Warren, Michigan, on November 1.
McPhee and Foster publicly revealed their relationship in 2018 and tied the knot the following year. They welcomed their first child, Rennie, in February 2021. The couple has shared glimpses of their son’s musical inclinations on social media. In June, Foster posted a video on Instagram of Rennie playing the drums, noting his progress at just over two years old. During an interview in October, Foster acknowledged that it is too early to tell if Rennie will follow in his parents’ musical footsteps. McPhee agreed, stating that while it makes sense for him to have a musical inclination, they are unsure at this point.
