A woman has shared her worst first date experience in which she was left with a staggering $1,600 bill after her date abandoned her at a restaurant. Natalie Joy, who is now engaged to TV personality Nick Viall, shared the story on an episode of the podcast “Viall Files – Better Date Than Never.”
Joy reluctantly agreed to go on a date with a persistent man who had asked her out around 20 times. When they arrived at the restaurant, her date seemed enthusiastic about trying out different dishes. They ended up ordering “one of every appetiser” and an entrée each.
After the main course, the man insisted on ordering dessert, despite Joy feeling completely stuffed. As they enjoyed their dessert, the man suddenly received a phone call and left the table. He didn’t return for 20 minutes, and when Joy went outside to look for him, he was nowhere to be found.
To her surprise, the man blocked her on all social media platforms and she never heard from him again. To make matters worse, the bill for their extravagant meal amounted to $1,600. When asked by Viall if she ended up paying the bill, Joy confirmed that she had to foot the hefty sum.
Fans of Viall and Joy expressed their shock at the date, with one Instagram user labelling it as the “worst date ever.” They couldn’t believe that the man not only made Joy pay for the expensive meal but also left her alone.
Viall is well-known for his appearances on reality TV shows such as “The Bachelorette,” “Bachelor in Paradise,” and “The Bachelor.” He began dating Joy, a surgical technologist, in 2020, and the couple got engaged in January of this year. They recently announced that they are expecting their first child.
