William Saliba expressed his joy after making a successful return to Premier League action in Arsenal’s victory over Nottingham Forest. The French defender had missed the end of last season due to a back injury, and Arsenal had struggled in his absence, dropping from the top of the table to finish behind Manchester City. Prior to his injury, Saliba had formed a strong defensive partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes. However, Saliba made his comeback in the team’s 2-1 win over Forest, providing the assist for Bukayo Saka’s remarkable goal after Eddie Nketiah’s deflected effort had opened the scoring.

Speaking about his competitive return, Saliba said, “I’m really, really happy. I’m not 100 per cent at the moment, but I give everything to come back because it’s been a long time. I didn’t play as I was injured, and I’m so happy to be with the team. The team and the staff helped me to get better and get back to my best.”

Saliba also emphasized the advantages of playing at home, stating, “It’s always better. You don’t feel pressure, you don’t feel any pain, it’s good.”

Although Arsenal had appeared to be in control against Nottingham Forest, substitute Taiwo Awoniyi’s goal in the final minutes gave the visitors hope of salvaging a point. Nevertheless, Arsenal managed to hold on and Saliba was pleased to begin the season with a win. He said, “It was really good to start the season with a win. It’s never easy to win the first game in the league, and we played well. Unfortunately, we conceded a goal in the last 10 minutes, but it’s okay, we learn and will improve for the next game.”

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest are looking to strengthen their squad before the transfer deadline. They recently handed debuts to Ola Aina, Anthony Elanga, and Matt Turner. Turner, who previously played for Arsenal and made his first appearance for Forest against his former club, expressed his gratitude on Instagram, saying, “Debut and Prem debut. A dream was finally realized yesterday. Thank you to the Forest fans who made the trip! See you at the City Ground on Friday. Also just wanted to say thanks for the warm welcome back to the Emirates, it was truly a special day for me and my family.”
