Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, believes that Rasmus Hojlund has a bright future ahead of him and is confident that the team can manage without the injured striker during the opening weeks of the season. Despite their interest in Harry Kane, the Red Devils opted to sign the talented 20-year-old from Atalanta instead. Hojlund joined the team in a £64 million deal that could rise to £72 million, but he will be unavailable for Monday’s Premier League opener against Wolves due to a back issue.

Ten Hag is confident that the team has enough quality and depth to cope without Hojlund. He stated, “We know we have also without him a strong team and the position is covered, so we don’t rush this. It’s about that he’s in the right level. First from the first fitness level and then we have to integrate him, training and then we will bring him in the games, so we take our time.”

Despite the absence of Hojlund, Ten Hag believes that Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial can perform well as strikers. He is also pleased with the performances of Jadon Sancho during preseason. Ten Hag emphasized that the team has constructed a squad with a clear strategy and can manage without rushing the integration of new players.

Hojlund was signed as a profile of striker that United needed. Ten Hag stated, “He has the potential – the physicality, his speed, character, hungriness, determination for goals… It’s absolutely the right fit, also his age fits very good in the profile, so we are very confident we found the right striker.” However, Hojlund’s absence from the start of the season will delay his integration.

In addition to Hojlund, United made two other major signings this summer, midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea and goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan. The areas targeted for improvement have been addressed, but there is still a desire for more additions. Ten Hag mentioned that managers always want more, but it’s about demanding the maximum from the players and working towards perfect results.

To make room for potential new signings, United has seen some departures, with Fred completing his move to Fenerbahce. There are also rumors of Harry Maguire potentially leaving for West Ham. Ten Hag emphasized that it is crucial to have a squad with depth and competition for places, and he believes that every player has the opportunity to fight for their spot in the team.

Regarding Maguire, Ten Hag stated that he needs to fight for his place and prove that he can be a top-class center-back. He believes that Maguire has the ability to perform well and be the best for the team. However, the final decision lies with the player, and Ten Hag expressed his satisfaction with Maguire’s commitment.

In conclusion, despite Hojlund’s absence, Ten Hag is confident in the team’s ability to cope without him. He believes in the quality and depth of the squad, and he expects players to fight for their places in the team. The manager also stated that there is always room for improvement and new signings, but the focus is on demanding the maximum from the players and achieving the best results possible.
