A couple who recently got married in Hawaii have shared their harrowing experience of escaping the Maui wildfires. Cindy and Bob Curler hadn’t anticipated spending their wedding night in a garage, but due to the wildfires that engulfed their town of Lahaina on August 8th, they were unable to return to their hotel.
Their chauffeur was left with no choice but to take them to the location where he usually parks his limousine. Cindy, still dressed in her strapless lace gown, and Bob, in his pristine blue suit, found themselves huddled on a sofa in the garage.
The newlyweds were devastated to witness the impact the wildfires had on the town and its residents. Cindy remarked, “We’re more heartbroken to see what the town is like and what the locals are dealing with. Yes, it was our wedding day and night, but that’s only one night for us whereas these people are affected for the rest of their lives.”
