Drone footage has captured the moment a Russian ship was attacked in Ukraine. The attack comes after Russia launched missile and drone strikes across parts of Ukraine, resulting in at least six deaths. Moscow retaliated after Ukrainian forces hit Russian tankers in the Black Sea. In response, Russia bombed a blood transfusion center and temporarily suspended flights at its second-largest airport. The Ukrainian air force reported that Russia launched 70 Iranian-made Shahed drones, as well as cruise and hypersonic missiles over the Caspian Sea. Russian shelling in the northern region of Kharkiv also resulted in three deaths.

Meanwhile, senior officials from 40 countries, including the US, China, and India, met in Saudi Arabia for talks on ending Russia’s war in Ukraine. However, Russia did not attend the meeting. The talks aim to establish key principles for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

In another development, it is challenging to determine the accurate number of casualties Russia has suffered since invading Ukraine in February 2022. Both sides have a motive to downplay their losses, with the Kremlin avoiding admitting high fatality rates among its troops. Russia is likely to accuse its enemies of promoting dishonest estimates on Russian losses. According to official figures, Russia claims that around 6,000 of its troops have been killed.

In a separate incident, a former member of Ukraine’s parliament, Serhiy Slabenko, was killed in combat in the Zaporizhzhian region. Slabenko served in parliament from 2002 to 2006 and was survived by his wife, son, and daughter.

The talks in Saudi Arabia ended without a concrete resolution to the war, as Russia did not participate. However, the participants, including China, India, and the US, acknowledged the importance of continuing consultations to achieve peace. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for a global summit based on the principles discussed during the talks.

Amidst the escalating attacks, Zelensky expressed the urgency to see American F-16 fighter jets in action as soon as possible, as both Russia and Ukraine have intensified their attacks. He also praised the effectiveness of US and German air defense systems.

Russia has been accused of committing another war crime after a blood transfusion center in Kupiansk was hit by missiles. Fatalities and injuries were reported in the strike.

Zelensky called for complete protection against terror and urged allies to supply air defense systems and missiles to Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of each partner’s responsible position in supporting Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

China has reportedly expressed support for further peace talks to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Chinese representatives attended a forum in Saudi Arabia, where a 10-point peace plan proposed by Kyiv was discussed. This development is seen as a win for Ukraine and a sign that Russia is becoming more isolated.

Germany’s delivery of military aid promised to Ukraine has been slow. Out of the 110 Leopard 1 tanks promised, only 10 have been delivered so far. Germany had agreed to a 2.7 billion-euro military aid package with Ukraine.

Despite the ongoing attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky attended a celebration of the Day of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Russia continues its assault on the country, further fueling tensions in the region.
